At St. Luke UMC, we love children! Our goal is to create an environment where children and families can engage in programs and activities that will assist them in forming a firm faith foundation, while helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
We recognize that each stage of a child’s development is different, and parenting offers different joys and challenges at each stage. We offer a wide variety of opportunities for families and children at all ages and stages to engage in the life of the church.
Our Children’s Ministry Team
Our team of volunteers come together on a regular basis to set the goals and plan the activities for Children’s Ministry at St. Luke. They work in partnership with the coordinator of Children’s and Family Ministry and have an active role in making decisions and planning events and activities for the program.
*All workers and volunteers in all of our programs follow the Safe Sanctuaries policies established by the United Methodist Church.
Children Kindergarten through 5th Grade
On Sunday mornings, children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade attend the worship service of their choice with their families. At 9:45 am, they meet in “Kidz Space” for a short time of songs, video messages, and skits before splitting up into small groups according to their ages. They spend the next 30 minutes engaging in fun activities that allow them to explore the concepts introduced in the large group opening.
We recognize that babies and toddlers are capable of learning at an amazing rate! So we have created a space that provides a warm, safe, and loving environment that will capture their attention, will allow them to learn and explore in a variety of ways, and will help them along in this beginning stage of their faith formation.
A nursery is offered for babies and toddlers up through age 4, or until they enter Kindergarten. The nursery is available from 8:45 am through 12:00 noon.
Parents of babies and toddlers may register to receive a free, monthly newsletter online, with information pertaining to the age and stage of development appropriate for their child. For more information, contact Carol Knight at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kool Kids and Club 45
Children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade meet on Sunday evenings for a time of food, fun, and hanging out. And when they are not looking, we throw in some learning, too! During their weekly sessions they participate in fun games and activities that allow them to further explore what they learned in our Sunday morning programs. They also participate in monthly mission projects, special outings, and seasonal events.
Children’s Music Ministry
Mother/daughter team Lisa Foushee and Mallory Paderick offer Cherub Choir for our youngest music makers. This choir meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 until 4:45 pm. The children perform during the church services multiple times during the year. They also host events for the families to participate in with the children on a regular basis.
St. Luke Children’s Choir
The St. Luke Children’s Choir offers an opportunity for children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade to “let their little lights shine.” The children perform multiple times during the year and participate in seasonal dramas. The choir meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 until 5:00 pm.
